Residents in Taman Pelangi can expect a safer neighbourhood with the opening of a new police station yesterday.
The Taman Pelangi police station, converted from a shoplot, is part of the police plan to curb crime in the state.
Other shoplots also converted into police stations and opened yesterday were in Mutiara Rini, Bukit Indah, Taman Perling, Kelapa Sawit, Kempas and Taman Pasir Putih.
Johor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff who opened the new Taman Pelangi station said there were plans to open more such “shoplot police stations” and community police bases in other residential areas in the state.
“It all depends on the crime rate in the areas,” he said, urging the public to work together with the police to help fight crime.
