Eight spots are up for grabs to play in the Iskandar Johor Open scheduled for Oct 14-17 at the Horizon Hills Golf and Country Club in Johor Baru with the organisers staging two qualifying rounds for local players as well as regional and international professionals.
The Open will offer a total of US$1.25mil in prize money.
Leading players, including defending champion K.J. Choi of South Korea and South African Retief Goosen, who won the championship in 2008, have confirmed participation.
The first qualifying round scheduled for Sept 20 at the competition venue will be for Malaysian professionals.
Five slots are on offer for the national qualifiers for those holding valid professional cards from recognised golf clubs and professional golf associations.
The entry fee is RM150 inclusive of caddie fees and entry forms are available from the Horizon Hills Golf and Country Club and www.iskandarjohoropen.com. The closing date for registration is Sept 15.
The second qualifying round for three slots will be held on a later date at the same venue. It is open to Malaysian, regional and international professional players.
The Open will be contested by 144 players comprising the top 116 players on the Asian Tour ranking, the top 10 Malaysians on the Asian Tour Order of Merit, 10 sponsor invites, five from the national qualifiers and three from the international qualifiers.
