On top of all these, another competitive edge of Iskandar Malaysia is its emphasis on sustainable development. IRDA – The agency set up to plan, promote and facilitate the development of Iskandar Malaysia, helped start a major research study called Low Carbon Society for Iskandar Malaysia (LCSIM) with UTM, Kyoto University, Okayama University and the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) of Japan. The Low Carbon Society Study is one of the most exciting projects that IRDA is involved in.
Our efforts towards realising a Low Carbon Society and sustainable Iskandar Malaysia have not gone unnoticed. During the UN Climate Summit in September, 2014 held in New York, Iskandar Malaysia was recognized and invited as one of the partnering cities or regions for the Global Energy Efficiency Accelerator Platform (GEEAP), a flagship programme under the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiative led by the United Nations Secretary-General and the President of the World Bank.
Iskandar Malaysia is a partner of GEEAP at a cross-sectorial level along with other international cities including Vancouver, Paris, Copenhagen, London and Toyama, Japan. GEEAP is a pilot programme that was established to help double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency by 2030.
Taking into account its competitive wages, low inflation, high staff retention rate, a well-educated and multilingual workforce along with world-class infrastructure, it makes perfect economic sense to invest in a country that is as sound and stable as Malaysia. By having one of the most conducive business environments in the region, Iskandar Malaysia is truly the preferred choice to Invest, Work, Live and Play!
