About Us
Iskandar Malaysia, created in 2006, is the first economic region established in Malaysia to take advantage of its prosperous location and ecosystem that is dedicated to its mission to be the preferred destination to invest, work, live, and play.

Located centrally at the heart of the ASEAN region and along the world’s busiest shipping routes, Iskandar Malaysia is easily accessible within a 6-hour flight of the major ASEAN cities through the Senai International Airport, 3 international ports, and an array of highways and railway services.

Iskandar Malaysia, an area of 2,300 sq km, has been growing rapidly since its inception by optimizing its position within Malaysia’s southernmost state of Johor that is primed with abundant land, natural and human resources, and enriched by a strong and sustainable living environment.

There are 5 local authorities within the Iskandar Malaysia area – Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB), Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP), Pasir Gudang City Council (MBPG), Kulai Municipal Council (MPKu), and Pontian Municipal Council (MDP).

As an economic corridor, Iskandar Malaysia focuses on holistic and comprehensive growth, understanding the importance of balancing economic prosperity, quality living, and a resilient environment.

With the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) and the Circle of Sustainability guiding its development, this reinforces Iskandar Malaysia’s vision to be a ‘Strong and Sustainable Metropolis of International Standing’.

Iskandar Malaysia’s generous land area, strategic location, and abundant ready infrastructure and resources boosted its 9 promoted sectors which are Electrical & Electronics, Petrochemical and Oleochemical, Food & Agro-Processing, Logistics, Tourism, Creative Industries, Healthcare Services, Education Services, and Financial and Business Services. The region is also home to many international and multi-national brands from around the world, a testament to its many advantages and offerings as an economic corridor.

With a target of 3 million population and RM383 billion in cumulative investment by 2025, this thriving economic environment is reinforced by its Smart City agenda which encompasses the 6 dimensions of Smart Economy, Smart Governance, Smart Environment, Smart Mobility, Smart People, and Smart Living.

Invest, work, live, and play in Iskandar Malaysia. We welcome you with the warmth of Malaysian hospitality and a business-friendly environment.

The development of Iskandar Malaysia is planned, promoted, and facilitated by Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA).
